Eyemart Express Pledges $25,000 To Support Stand Up To Cancer’s 10th Anniversary

DALLAS — Cancer is expected to claim more than 609,000 lives this year, according to a recent National Cancer Institute report. Leading national eyewear retailer Eyemart Express is partnering with Visual Eyes Eyewear to mark the tenth anniversary of cancer research and awareness organization Stand Up To Cancer, also known as SU2C, with a fundraising campaign that includes a $25,000 minimum donation commitment.

“Organizations like Stand Up To Cancer improve the millions of lives impacted by cancer,” said Michael Bender, Eyemart Express Chief Executive Officer. “We are privileged to honor a decade of their hard work funding cancer research, so cancer patients can become cancer survivors. There is still a long road to discover a cure, but we are eager to continue to do our part to bolster this organization and spread the word by involving our customers.”

For the third consecutive year, Eyemart Express is including customers in its philanthropic initiative — the company and its family of brands will donate $5 for every pair of SU2C glasses or frames purchased at all stores nationwide through September 9, 2018, with a $25,000 minimum guaranteed donation. The SU2C collection was created in collaboration with Visual Eyes Eyewear, offering men and women on-trend frame styles with colorful designs and subtle shapes. Over the course of their partnership, Eyemart Express and Visual Eyes Eyewear have donated more than $187,800 to support SU2C’s mission to help further cancer research, educate the public on cancer prevention, and improve quality of life for cancer survivors.

“We are very grateful for our strong relationship with Eyemart Express,” said SU2C President and Chief Executive Officer Sung Poblete, Ph.D., R.N. “We are able to accomplish all that our organization does thanks to the generosity of the company and its customers.”

“Cancer is a disease that touches nearly everyone in some capacity,” said Mr. Bender. “Contributing to the fight any way you can, such as purchasing SU2C collection glasses, goes a long way.”

About Stand Up To Cancer
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) raises funds to accelerate the pace of research to get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C, a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in 2008 by film and media leaders who utilize the industry’s resources to engage the public in supporting a new, collaborative model of cancer research, and to increase awareness about cancer prevention as well as progress being made in the fight against the disease. As SU2C’s scientific partner, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and a Scientific Advisory Committee led by Nobel Laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D., conduct rigorous, competitive review processes to identify the best research proposals to recommend for funding, oversee grants administration, and provide expert review of research progress.
